My Name is Thora Waldmann, and I am a programmer from Ingolstadt in Germany. In 2018 I achieved my higher education entrance qualification and began studying Game Design at MediaDesign Hochschule in Munich. I started purely as a 2D artist but fell in love with mathematics and programming, and while working towards my degree, I eventually specialized in it. Whereas I am deadly afraid of bodies of open water and wild horses couldn't drag me in there, I am incredibly interested in water creation and simulation and even wrote my thesis about different approaches to the topic. As of May 2022, I hold a bachelor's degree.
As part of my education, I have been a programmer on several student games. While doing this, I also occupied myself with topics such as global illumination, performance optimization, version control in Unity, and Unreal Engine 4. I am improving my programming skills inside of my studies as well as outside, writing shaders and creating effects. In addition, I like to play several video games, make music and paint in my free time.
I am currently employed as a programmer at Salty Panda Studios.
Projects I'd like to do:
There are several technical things I'd like to implement to broaden my horizon.
-
I want to create a weather system with a corresponding sky sphere and volumetric clouds, preferably in UE5
-
physically correct day and night cycle, with the possibility to skip to a specific time and possible integrate the weather system into this (or vice versa, depending on which project I attempt first)
-
simulation of liquids of different viscosities, e.g., lava, water, slime
-
development of a system to change the states of matter of a body of water
-
development of an aim trainer with evaluation based on data collection such as crosshair placement, shooting performance and aim speed
